Makeup of the Week: Sixth Edition.

This Makeup of the Week: Sixth Edition will feature all the lovely goodies I acquired last week from my visit to the CCO.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with a CCO (Cosmetics Company Outlet), it is an outlet store the Estee Lauder Company has cleverly established to sell all of their overstock merchandise from their subsidiary brands.  All cosmetics/fragrance brands included are: Estee Lauder, MAC, Clinique, Bobbi Brown, Joe Malone, Flirt, Smashbox, Bumble and Bumble, Origins, Donna Karen, Tom Ford, Ojon, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors and Prescriptives.  All items in store are sold at a 30% discount off the original retail price.  As an added bonus, the sales women are lovely and customers have the comfort/freedom to swatch and roam for as long as one desires.  Who could ask for more?

THE VERDICT:  If makeup could talk what would it say?

Makeup would tell you to locate your nearest Tangers Outlet Mall (location finder here) and visit a CCO pronto!  Plan a trip for the day with your family/friends and roam all the stores to your heart’s content.  CCO are fantastic for discovering some limited-edition jewels that were hard to obtain during the original release. I have yet to spy any TF brushes..Darn!  Do call ahead of time to check inventory before making a trip.  I hope you find this helpful and informative.  Be well and stay safe.

Daliia My Best Friend’s Red Herbal Lip Stain review and photos

My needs are very simple; the requirements are optimum health, food, drink, good company and a fantastic red lipstick to set the overall tone for my signature look.  Hoping to mimic my success with Daliia’s Runway Fashion Fuchsia Lip Stain (reviewed here), a trip to Whole Foods was the order of the day to quench my fix for another of these fabulous lip stains.  This time I opted for the company’s #1 seller,  Daliia My Best Friend’s Red Herbal Lip Stain Pen ($32 US/6g).  This remarkable color is a stop-you-in-your-tracks-drop-dead-gorgeous-where-have-you-been-all-my-life-red!  Forget what you think you know about lip stains, Daliia’s My Best Friend’s Red (MBFR) Herbal Lip Stain succeeds where all other companies fail.

The Formula/Color:

Daliia Herbal Lip Stains are “100% pure plant extracts and oils” and claim to last 5-8 hours on the lips.  My Best Friend’s Red lasted an astonishing 11 hours on my lips, with one minor touch-up after lunch.  Unlike, Runway Fashion Fuchsia which required layers to obtain full color saturation, MBFR goes on full force with one heart pounding layer.  In fact, this stain is so potent one must use a very light hand during application. The results echo the vivid color of ripened strawberries/raspberries on a hot Summer’s day. MBFR also gave my lips a plump look and moisturizing feel.  The adventurous blogger in me, courageously slipped on two layers of MBFR and walked out joyously mindful that unevenness, dry cracking lips, and unsightly patches were not in the foreseeable future. When was the last time you could say that about any red lipstick?  Absolute Amore ♥.

Preparation/Design:

There is a level of preparation one must undergo before application of this stain; ALL lip balms, residual foundation, powder. etc. should be wiped clean from the lip area.  If any balm/powder gets on the felt tip of the lip stain pen, the flow of the stain will be compromised and hinder the results.  As with any lip stain, exfoliation is a must.  The type of felt used is very dense, presumably to absorb the stain more efficiently, and hold on to a good amount of product, so not to lose intensity when it is in an upward position.  Daliia’s lip stains are derived solely from plant extracts, we could all use more natural products in our lives.  The ingredients are as follows:

Henna, Aqua, Lavender, Flax seed, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Peppermint, Paprika, Clove Flower, Natural Plant Aroma Extracts.

My Husband's Favorite Combo: Daliia My Best Friend's red w/Dior Addict Rouge Podium 773.

There are no limits to what can be done with these stains.  Summon your inner chemist and mix these stains to create your own custom color ♥  Add a lipstick from your collection to create another layer of dimension to the color.  I would stay away from any glosses that contain petrolatum/mineral oil/natural oils, and foods that are quite oily. They can break down some of the color.

The basic architecture of the pen is rather simple, wholesome and to the point.  One end is pointed for precise application the other is rounded for overall application.  Apparently, the shrink-wrap that encases the pen “is made of biodegradable plastic.” The longevity and pigmentation of MBFR is something I have never encountered, more so than Runway Fashion Fuchsia, no doubt because the red pigment is of a denser composition.  I found that even after consuming a full meal (nothing greasy), my stain was practically undisturbed.  I had to use a Q-Tip dipped in coconut oil to remove the remainder of the stain at night.

THE VERDICT:  If makeup could talk what would it say?

Makeup would tell you that Daliia”s My Best Friend’s Red Herbal Lip Stain pen is the Superman of lip stains, more durable than Titanium, more powerful than a woman’s shopping skills, and able to leap over sidewalks in a single bound 🙂  What makes these stains so much more appealing is the fact that they are ALL natural.  Lipstick is the one cosmetic that is ingested at the highest frequency, therefore I would love to see an all natural lipstick from Daliia, similar to my Shiseido liquid lipsticks, as an accompaniment to these fantastic stains.  Now I want the other remaining 8 colors, my inner Yoda voice keeps reminding me, “Girl yourself pace, anywhere they are not going .”  I know, I know… good I’ll be Master Yoda... Well be and safe stay.
