When it comes time to paint my nails I think long and hard before I make a selection.  Every week I am drawn to Estee Lauder Molten Lava Nail Lacquer ($20 US/.3 fl.oz.) and every week this beautiful color gets shamefully cast to the side.  Molten looks at me and sadly asks, “M, Don’t you want me anymore?”  I quietly respond, “No darling, it’s not you, it’s me.”  Molten’s dismissal is unfortunately based on its inaccessibility to the masses. This limited-edition polish came out last year as part of the Summer 2012 Bronze Goddess Collection and sold out rather quickly. However, this week I can no longer stop myself from showcasing this amazing hue.  Classify this post under, Nail Polishes You Will Have A Hard Time Finding….sorry my darlings (sheepishly bowing my head).

The Pros/Formula:

Estee Lauder nail polishes, in general are among the best in the business.  Without any exaggeration, I can easily get 6-7 days of mileage with minimal tip wear or chipping.  Molten Lava has a deep gray/brown base color mixed with purple and copper micro-shimmers.  This color possess a certain fiery glow from within, which strikes me as unique and rather attractive.  Molten Lava’s color radiates from afar, no one will ever mistake this beauty as just another basic black polish.

The brush on Estee Lauder Nail Lacquers is equally wide from base to tip, it has just the right density which allows the brush to splay out perfectly on the nail bed.  This type of brush will suit a variety of nail widths and shapes.  Molten’s formula, like Estee Lauder’s Smashed (reviewed here), glides on smoothly and the medium consistency allows the polish to settle evenly and dry quickly.  Opacity is reached using one coat, but my cosmetic conditioning compels me to add a second coat to gain full effect.

The Cons:

Other than the obvious limited-edition factor, there is very little criticism I can dish-out about this polish. The amount/price ratio is concerning, however I love this color so much, I really did not mind the expense.

Estee lauder Nail Lacquers are sold at Macy’s, Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor, Bloomingdales, Neiman, Esteelauder.com, etc..

THE VERDICT:  If makeup could talk what would it say?

Makeup would like to apologize for taunting you with this polish. However, “M” has found a few sellers on Ebay.com (here) who have this polish for sale.  Did you really think, I would do something as cruel, as to dangle a limited-edition polish in front of you without any hopes of acquiring one for yourself?  No, I would not…I hope you enjoyed my little rave and do not hesitate to snatch-up Estee Lauder Molten Lava Nail Lacquer while you still can.  Be well and stay safe.
