Every time I seek out a new nail color to purchase, I’m somehow always swayed by the allure and seductive nature of plum/red shades. I feel like Michael Corleone in Godfather 3, “Just when I think [I’m done with darker shades], they seem to pull me back in.” These types of colors scream fall/winter and Guerlain 168 L’Hueure Bleue La Lacque Couleur ($25 USD/.33 fl. oz.) had me at first-sight. This latest temptation demonstrates, pretty shiny things can also be exceptional in quality and performance. Well…that’s my story and I’m sticking to it 🙂
The Pros to Guerlain 168 L’Heure Bleue La Laque Couleur:
- Gorgeous berry red color with silver micro-shimmers.
- Beautiful hefty packaging–this is one nail polish bottle I would proudly display.
- Opacity is obtained using two coats.
- Applies smoothly and settles evenly on the nails.
- “Long-lasting” shine lasts for a good three days.
- Wide brush splays out perfectly to accommodate a variety of nail widths and lengths.
- Dries faster than the average drugstore nail polish.
- Decorative top is easily removable for application.
- Lasted beautifully for five days with minor chipping by the sixth day.
- Although not advertised as 3-free (formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl phthalate (DBP), I could not find these chemicals within the ingredients.
- Made in France.
The Cons to Guerlain 168 L’Heure Bleue La Laque Couleur:
- Similar to Chanel polishes, the beautiful micro-shimmers do not show upon application.
- Color changes depending on lighting conditions.
- Gueralin has 11 colors in their polish line-up; IMHO not enough of a bold color selection.
Guerlain 168 L’Heure Bleue La Laque Couleur can be found at Nordstrom, Sephora, Saks and amazon.com.
THE VERDICT: If makeup could talk what would it say?
Makeup would tell you Guerlain 168 L’Heure Bleue La Laque Couleur is a magnificent polish. I mean, it’s Guerlain for goodness sake, I need not delve into further flattering rhetoric. More directly, just get this beauty, you will not regret it 🙂 Be well, stay safe and be happy.
