Guerlain Lingerie De Peau Nude Powder Foundation review and swatches.

Guerlain Lingerie De Peau Nude Powder Foundation.

Lately, I have been experimenting with several foundation formulations.  My journey down the yellow brick road led me to Diorskin Forever Flawless, passed Dior Star Fluid Foundation, fast approaching YSL Fusion Ink and ultimately ended with three clicks of my red heels straight to Guerlain Lingerie De Peau Nude Powder Foundation ($66 USD/ 10g).  This unassuming foundation has exceeded all of my expectations and then some.  The buttery smooth texture and flawless results have me wondering how I ever bypassed this marvel in favor of liquid formulations?  Ladies, this is a true game changer for me; I have a feeling, I’m not in Kansas anymore 🙂

According to Guerlain:

Guerlain has created its first compact powder foundation so light that it blends seamlessly, like a second skin.
The Bio-Fusion micro-mesh, a combination of stretch fibres and textile proteins of natural origin fuse with the epidermis for an optimal distribution of pigments.

Composed of hyaluronic acid, Lingerie de Peau compact powder foundation protects the skin’s moisture in order to maintain its suppleness and softness from morning to-night.

The Pros to Guerlain Lingerie De Peau Nude Powder Foundation:

  1. Amazingly smooth texture results in a beautiful matte/satin finish.
  2. Finely milled powder looks natural and can be built-up for flawless results.  Pores…what pores?  I was naturally born this way 🙂
  3. A primer was not needed for my dry skin.
  4. Lasted perfectly for eight hours.
  5. No additional powder needed to mattify the skin.
  6. Surprisingly moisturizing for dry skins; skin does not feel tight throughout the day.
  7. Can be applied with the sponge provided or any kabuki brush for heavier coverage (I use a small Kabuki brush from my Dior Bronzer).
  8. Can be used as a flesh tone eyeshadow for a simple and refined look.
  9. Photographs beautifully due to the lack of SPF.
  10. Refillable pans provided, however from what I can gather, available only through House of FraserHarrods and www.feelunique.com.
  11. Beautiful sturdy magnetic compact is high quality.  The thin packaging fits perfectly in any handbag. The large distortion-free mirror is ideal for travel to apply a full face of makeup.
  12. The compact flattens out completely for easy product accessibility or easily props up for personal use.
  13. Comes with a velvet pouch to protect the compact.
  14. Pleasant light fragrance is imperceptible after a couple of minutes.
  15. Formulated without parabens, sulfates, or phthalates.
  16. Made in France.

The Cons to Guerlain Lingerie De Peau Nude Powder Foundation:

  1. Limited shade range (especially at Sephora).  I had to purchase two shades to match my olive skin tone. (03 and 04).  I would advise a visit to the Guerlain counter to see all the available shades (16 in all on Guerlain.com) and to get properly matched.
  2. Slight oxidation/darkening by the sixth hour.  This will vary depending on skin type, I like the effect some may not.
  3. Can look overdone/caky if too much product is applied.
  4. Compact is a fingerprint magnet.  In this case, I really do utilize the velvet pouch.
  5. Formulated with silicones.

This is the type of powder that becomes creamier the more it is buffed into the skin.  I prefer to use a kabuki brush and buff a light layer all over the face and then reapply as I see fit.  The sponge provided does work beautifully if you have the need for more precise application.  The corner of the sponge works perfectly to reach the under eye area.

Guerlain Powder Foundation also eliminates the need for a primer and finishing powder.  I find prepping my skin with my moisturizer 15 minutes prior to foundation application suffices for all day wear.  Call me crazy, but since utilizing this powder, my recent acne outbreak has completely cleared-up.  I suspect the hyaluronic acid may have had something to do with my facial recovery.  The lack of additional products on my skin (primer and finishing powder) may also have benefited my congested complexion.

THE VERDICT:  If makeup could talk what would it say?

Makeup would tell you Guerlain Lingerie De Peau Nude Powder Foundation is the best powder foundation I have ever come across.  Just imagine, if the Wicked Witch of the West would have found this product–she wouldn’t have been so cranky, winged monkeys would have never been conjured up and her green coloring would have been magically concealed.  Who says makeup can’t solve problems and bring happiness?  Hop, skip or jump down to your local Guerlain counter and see for yourself.  Be well, stay safe and be happy.

Comments

  1. This really does give an airbrushed finish! I must check this one out. Hopefully I can find a shade to match my skintone. Love the blush and lipstick you’re wearing too 🙂

    • Hello Dollie,

This Guerlain Powder Foundation is amazing–even my husband inquired about my makeup when I wore this puppy. Although, your beautiful skin probably doesn’t need this. The blush is The Indecent Proposal by Bare Minerals and the lip combo is Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy in Decadent topped with Dior Addict Fluid Stick in 995 Intrigue.

  2. Hi Maria!

This is quite a beauty. I understand why you like it so much, but after reading con numer uno: “limited range”, I became quite discouraged. This is one of my major problems with foundations in general (though it’s getting better) and I tend to stick with Bobbi Brown 🙂 x

    • Hello Natasja,

Guerlain is sitting on a goldmine with this product. For the life of me, I cannot understand why they don’t fully distribute all the colors (16) to every counter. What shade are you in BB?

      -Maria

  3. I like the idea of no SPF, I honestly hate SPF in foundation. I prefer to have control over SPF than have it incorporated. It is good to know that Guerlain doesn’t have it. I too prefer powder foundation because of the speed in application. This one looks similar to the YSL one which was one of my faves years and years ago.

The only problem I would have is in the color selection, I could never find a good match in the Guerlain line.

Beautiful makeup and really tempts the eyes!

    • Hello Olivia,

Thank you my friend, I’m with you 100% (as always) 🙂 I like the option of adding my all natural and highly effective sunscreen under my foundation. I had forgotten how quick and easy powder foundation can be, especially when you are in a hurry.

Guerlain’s foundation color selection is lacking, the sixteen shades offered on Guerlain.com is wonderful, but it’s impossible to really “see” any of the colors accurately. I’m just so happy to have found the combo that works for me. Crazy expensive? Yes…but by golly, so worth it 🙂

      -Maria

  4. This sounds heavenly. I love the idea of mineral makeup, but hate the mess. I know a lot of people love their SPF in heir foundation, but i prefer to add my own. Great review.

    • Hello Ana,

Mineral makeup sounds really wonderful on paper, but the reality is, it can be messy. Guerlain’s pressed powder is a joy to apply and store.

I agree about the SPF; some people find the lack of SPF in their foundation to be a con, but theoretically, the low percentage of SPF added to any foundation provides little to no protection. One has to consistently reapply SPF throughout the day for it to be effective. Thank you for taking the time to comment.

  5. Hi Maria,

Do you this this powder foundation would work as a concealer in place of Estée lauder’s camouflage. I don’t wear foundation but always look for s perfect concealer for under the eyes area that looks super natural.

Thank you for sharing as always!

    • Hello Tanya,

That all depends on the extent of your undereye discoloration. I find the coverage of this foundation covers really well if applied in layers. I do not know of you want to put layers of powder under your eye area. Personally, I find the coverage to be sufficient under my eyes, but I still like to add a touch of Dior Star Concealaer (fabulous stuff BTW) to hide my green veining at the corners of my eye. I hope this helps…regardless, go to a counter and check it out..LMK how it goes 🙂

      -Maria

      • Hi Maria,

I’m intrigued by the Dior star concealer! Have you used it in any of your posts?
I also have slight green shade at the corners, but nothing too drammatic. I’m looking for something that does not dry my skin and looks natural.

What shade of concealer do you use? I have very similar coloration.

Thank you! You are like a beauty doctor:)

        • Hello Darling,

I have not reviewed or shown the Dior Star Concealer..yet, but I will. Quick synopsis: it is fabulous 🙂

I use SHADE 03 the closest color to my skin/foundation. I do not use this as a traditional concealer to highlight, rather to actually conceal the veins in the inner corner area aganist the bridge of my nose. You need the tiniest amount to achieve desirable results. The texture is smooth, hydrating and the coverage is amazing.

I hope this has helped. Keep an eye out for my review next week. Thank you for your kind words and support.

          -Maria

  6. Hey Maria, I’m glad to hear you like it so much! I like it as well, but for the moment 03 is a little too light for me. Maybe it’ll match me better later. I have long hoped Guerlain would start expanding their foundation shade range, because they make great formulas, but the shades don’t match a lot of people!

    • Hello Sunny,

I know what you mean, I purchased 04 and my husband came home and ask if I went on vacation for the day…that’s how dark it was. Their shade range, here in the States, is really lacking. I see the website offers 16 shades, but I was unable to find a counter that carried the enter color range. Thank goodness for Sephora’s 20% sale, that was the only way I could justify buying two of these bad boys 🙂

      -Maria

      • Wait what? 16? We get 6 here! That’s my main beef with Guerlain foundations. While the formulas are always beautiful, a lot of people can’t find a good match. To be honest 03 in their liquid foundation is a little too beige for me, but it passes so already I feel like I shouldn’t complain!

Hurrah for 20% off at Sephora!

        • Hello Sunny,

Can you believe Guerlain offers 16 shades in this amazing foundation and not one counter (here in NY) carries the entire line? This product can potientally be a cult favorite and they are not giving the public all the choices.

Thank goodness Sephora does these 20% sales and no hassle returns; what an amazing company, they have a life long customer in IMCT 🙂

          -Maria
