MAC Chilled Fluidline review and photos.

Since my fascination with MAC Deliciously Rich Fluidline (reviewed here) I decided to pay the MAC Cosmetic counter a visit.  To my surprise I was quite delighted to see the new Magnetic Nude Collection out on display.  MAC Chilled Fluidline ($16 US/ 3g) was the one item that immediately caught my eye.  This pot of golden sunshine made mall shopping a little more brighter and bearable.  What can I say, it’s the little things that make me happy.

The Pros:

  1. Amazing cream eyeshadow color.
  2. Gorgeous golden shade with a pearl finish rather than chunky glitter.
  3. Very smooth consistency and application.
  4. Slight whitish base color provides density and excellent color payoff for the gold shimmer.
  5. Layers evenly and dries down seamlessly.
  6. Fantastic staying power (8 hours +).
  7. Ideal inner corner highlight color.
  8. Zero sparkle/shimmer fall-out if used as a cream shadow.  Applying a powder eyeshadow on top will disrupt the shimmers and result in some fallout, but not an abundance.
  9. Far superior formula to Chilled on Ice Pro Longwear Paint Pot.

The Cons:

  1. Not my choice for a liner color.  MAC should start marketing some of these Fluidlines as cream shadows.
  2. Golden color may not be ideal for cooler skin tones.
  3. Multiple layers may result in a caky look.
  4. May look ashy on darker skinned beauties if applied heavily.

The golden shimmers in Chilled were being very difficult during our photography session.  I had to purposely blur the third photo to show Chilled’s beautiful golden shimmer.  Personally, Chilled proved to be too luminous for my large lid space; an additional color in the outer corner was needed to break-up the monotony of the look.  My husband liked the color, but commented that Chilled was “too light” for my eye shape as a stand alone color.  Of course, the opposite would be true for individuals with smaller lid space; the light/bright hue is the perfect color to make eyes appear more prominent.

Chilled can also be used, very lightly, as a topper shade for darker colors and as a base color for any neutral eye look.  The staying power and lack of shimmer fallout makes Chilled an ideal staple in anyone’s collection.  Regardless, I cannot imagine using this type of color as a traditional Fluildline to line the upper lash line.

THE VERDICT:  If makeup could talk what would it say?

Makeup would tell you MAC Chilled Fluidline is not a complete must have, but proves to be a very versatile color nonetheless.  When used as a cream shadow or inner corner highlight, Chilled lasted beautifully until it’s removal at night.  This color also paired beautifully with MAC Rich Ground Fluidline ♥.  It’s Playful Fluidline, from the same collection, looked promising and worthy of a revisit to the MAC counter.  What will you be getting from the Magnetic Nude collection?  Be well and stay safe.

  1. I went to the MAC counter today and tried Chilled like you suggested and the MUA was amazed with how beautiful it looked. I bought Chilled Fluidline and Amorous Alloy eyeshadow. Thanks for this post and I hope you will be reviewing It’s Physical soon. BTW, what are you wearing for a brown liner in the photos? Gorgeous eyes!

    • Hello Liz,
So glad you liked and purchased Chilled. I wanted to purchase the eyeshadows from the collection, but I prefer cream shadows/liners over powder shadows any day. The brown liner is MAC Rich Ground Fluidline and yes…I have It’s Physical and will review it soon (see how it looks on my Instagram). Thank you for the lovely compliment and for your support. Happy New Year!

  2. I stumbled across this collection this week, and thought your review was spot on! I will be getting It’s Physical Fluidline, Silver Dawn eyeshadow and At Dusk Blush…so excited! Thanks for posting.
