Yves Saint Laurent Long-Wear Cream Eyeliner 3 Noir Bronze ($30 USD/ 2.8g) has been on my “must-buy” list for the longest time.  This mossy golden shade appeared to be the perfect shadow for my coloring, without being too adolescent or outrageous.  Unlike many colored liners that appear garish, Noir Bronze possess such a versatile appeal, I doubt anyone will be able to resist its beauty.

The Pros to Yves Saint Laurent Long-Wear Cream Eyeliner 3 Noir Bronze:

  1. Beautiful glistening mossy green shade, which is actually composed of a blackened base with gold and bronze pearl throughout.
  2. Extremely creamy and opaque.
  3. Glides along the lash line without skipping.
  4. Creamy texture is easily blended for use as an eyeshadow.
  5. Setting time is roughly one minute–plenty of time to make any necessary adjustments.
  6. Color is noticeably dark, but not so much so, as to be mistaken for a black liner.
  7. Lasts all day, over a primer for 12 hours+ without any fading or flaking.
  8. Waterproof formula is ideal for hooded eyes and oily lids.
  9. Looks spectacular with all eye colors, especially brown…YAY!!
  10. Can be applied with a variety of tools: angled eyeliner brush, pointed eyeliner brush, shadow brush, natural and synthetic fiber brushes, etc.
  11. Amazing shelf-life; my YSL #7 Gold Star Cream Liner is over two years old and remains as silky smooth as the day it was purchased.
  12. Small amount needed for maximum color impact.
  13. Can be applied on the waterline.
  14. 7 sophisticated shades offered: 1 Deep Black, 2 Ashy Black, 3 Noir Bronze, 4 Sea Black, 5 Cherry Black, 6 Jade Black, 7 Gold Star.
  15. Formulated without parabens or mineral oil.

The Cons to Yves Saint Laurent Long-Wear Cream Eyeliner 3 Noir Bronze:

  1. Small opening hinders the use of fingers (except my pinky finger).
  2. Sephora only carries 4 out of 7 colors offered.  #7 Gold Star can only be purchased from yslbeauty website.
  3. Made in Korea, I suspect the same manufacture as Shu Uemura Gel Liners.
  4. No other cons…smoother and more consistent than Bobbi Brown gel liners.

  • For the above photos, I used my Memebox Meme Angled Eyeliner brush (reviewed here) to apply Noir Bronze to the upper lash line.  When used as an eyeliner, the color morphed into more of a darkened bronze/khaki color.  Whatever the case, the result was simply stunning.

THE VERDICT:  If makeup could talk what would it say?

Makeup would tell you Yves Saint Laurent Long-Wear Cream Eyeliner 3 Noir Bronze is spectacular. These little pots of loveliness are the best gel/cream liners I have ever tried.  Some may find the limited color selection too conservative, but I happen to enjoy the edited sophisticated choices.  What is your favorite gel liner?  Until next time, be well, stay safe and be happy.

re-send of previously misdirected comment… re-posting so this goes correctly to Maria Pia…

Whoops. Hello Maria Pia. I preciously misread the author’s name. Sorry for that. I think this color is so beautiful on you and I think it would be so great on me, too. I hope that you will know or someone will know where I can buy this beautiful color eyeliner. Thank you so much.

I just ran across your page with this beautiful color eyeliner, so needed by me, . I do not find it anywhere for sale. Does anyone have an idea of where it is for sale these days. I am in search of a flattering color, this one, as I am tired of buying the browns or blacks, neither one is a great one for me and my unusual coloring apparently for these days. Browns are usually too red or just not so good. Black is too harsh for me. Thanks for any assistance anyone has in locating this product for me.

  2. Hello Maria,

Your eyes always look so beautiful. The eyelids are so smooth and firm. Do you have any routines to care of delicate eye area? Do you use eye creams, special cleansing routines?
I think to get this dramatic effect with eyeliners one really needs to start with smooth canvas over the eyes.

Thanks for your amazing posts! Any tips would be appreciated.

    • Hello Cleo,

Thank you so much for such a lovely compliment. My spring/summer time moisturizers are Argan Oil, Coconut Oil and Nuxe Dry Oil . In the fall/winter I always use Josie Maran Whipped Body Butter on my entire face including my eyelids. Every night (without fail) I condition my lashes and eye area with Coconut Oil and Castor Oil.

Personally, I do not believe in using expensive creams or ones that contain acids. I believe the simpler the better. Nars Eyeshadow Primer is also used before any eyeshadow application. In the end, I have my father’s large lids and resilient Neapolitan skin; he had the best skin. I hope this helped and I truly appreciate you taking the time to comment.

  3. You picked out a shade that I’d pick for myself! I have little to NO resistance when it comes to a shade like this one! The only thing I own that is REMOTELY similar is Bobbi Brown Forest Shimmer Ink. Now come to think of it, it’s the right season to bust it out again 🙂

    • Hello Sunny,
I can totally picture you wearing this color. I know what you mean about no resistance..as soon as I see anything that resembles the colors khaki, green, or bronze I fall into a trance and mysteriously find myself at the checkout. I would love to see a look from you using your BB Forest Shimmer Ink.

  4. I think I’m in love. What a gorgeous gooooooooorgeous color O_O

  5. I have this one and two others. This one is more of a color shifter when it comes to the seasons. During the summer it looks more olive green and in the winter it looks more bronze, or is it vice versa. Anyway, I like this one the most because it isn’t exactly dark and dramatic but more of an everyday soft color. I am jealous at how good it looks on you though!!!!

    • Hello Olivia,
I agree this does change depending on the lighting. When I asked my son to describe the color, he said it looked brown. I also like that you can layer the color for a really dramatic effect. Thanks, but I think this looks equally stunning on you my friend 🙂
      -Maria.
