Ah Paris..so much to see so little time.  That magical city has great meaning for me, Paris was the destination of my honeymoon.  Being the history fanatic I am, my husband knew better than to suggest some tropical paradise for our first vacation as husband and wife. Surrounded by such amazing works from Michelangelo to Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, the Louvre was as close to heaven on earth as there could have been.  So when OPI Louvre Me Louvre Me Not ($8 US/.5 fl. oz.) caught my attention, I could not help but see if the color, formula, and wear were as magical as it’s namesake.

The Color/Formula:

The color of this polish is very appealing.  OPI Louvre Me Louvre Me Not contains pink, blue, and red micro shimmers suspended in a violet base color.  Gorgeous!  This is one of those colors that will appear true on the nails to what is seen in the bottle. Louvre is not too vampy, it will not appear dark in natural lighting, it does reflect a blue sheen in sunlight and flash photography.  The formula is typical OPI, it has a medium consistence and glides effortlessly on the nails without any streaks.  Opacity is reached in two silky coats.

The Pros:

The price of this polish should be enough of a pro, however I cannot stop there.  The wear time is fantastic, I could get five days without any chipping.  This will vary according to one’s activities.  The brush is wonderful, it splays out nicely to coat the nails in 3 strokes or less.  Louvre has such color depth, this color will be suitable on a variety of skin tones, nail lengths, and age groups.  This color will also pair nicely with white/silver or yellow metal jewelry and any outfit imaginable.  The amount/price ratio and availability are also quite alluring.

The Cons:

Do be careful and apply a base coat, this color can tend to stain the nails during removal.  However, IMHO, Illamasqua polishes and Deborah Lippmann’s Bitches Brew are the worse offenders for staining.  Using pure acetone or Zoya nail polish remover usually solves this issue.

OPI polishes are sold online everywhere (or so it seems).  In store OPI is sold in Ulta, Harmon, Target, some Bed Bath and Beyond locations, and some CVS locations.

THE VERDICT:  If makeup could talk what would it say?

Makeup would tell you, if a trip to Paris to visit The Louvre is not in the immediate future, take comfort in knowing OPI Louvre Me Louvre Me Not is just as appealing and complex as the grand museum it is named after.  Should you invest in OPI?  Oui mon ami.  Should you visit the Louvre in your lifetime? Assolutamente.  Appreciate everything this wonderful world has to offer.   As Confusious once said,

Everything has beauty, but not everyone see it.

Take pleasure in the beauty around yourself and within yourself.  Be well and stay safe.
