Bed Head Curlipops Reverse Conical Iron review.

Bed Head Curlipops Reverse Conical Iron.

Bed Head Curlipops Reverse Conical  Iron:

Do you want beautiful, long-lasting, shiny, and bouncy curls?  If your answer is YES…(cue Al Pacino in Scarface) then, “let me introduce you to my Little Friend.”   This lovely is the Bed Head Curlipops Reverse Conical Iron ($18-$30 US).  This wand gets hot (410 degrees) and comes with its own Michael Jackson looking glove you see in the photo.  For those of you who are not familiar with this type of curling wand, it is designed without a clamp and the hair is wrapped around the shaft of the wand and manually held down with your gloved hand.  This type of wand is referred to as a reverse styling wand.  The reverse indicates the design of the wand; the base is thin and it gradually expands to the tip of the wand.  Mr. Bed is toying with us.  The resulting curls are quite stunning!

This is how you do it…

You can make the curls as tight or loose as you want.  This depends on the thickness of the hair section you select.  Thicker sections yield looser curls, thinner sections yield tighter curls.  I prefer the latter.  Why?  Well I think I’ll tell you.  My hair texture is quite odd; the top section is very curly, the middle is wavy, and the bottom is very straight, with the exception of new growth at the very base (kinky curl).   Blow-drying is not an option for me, it is a must.  However, even after undergoing such an annoying process, my hair still remains frizzy at the top and middle sections, where most of my texture is located.  Curling my hair tightly eliminates the frizziness in the problem areas and texturizes my bottom portion to match the top and middle.  You follow?  Good.

After blow drying..the outer edges are frizzy

Now here is where the magic happens.  I curl my hair with Mr. Bed by sectioning off my hair in THREE large areas (top, middle, bottom) and use clips to hold down each section.  Also make sure you spray heat protectant (Tresemme is my choice) on each section of hair before the start of every curl;  this puppy gets HOT!!  The base section gets curled first, then the middle and finally the top.  Each section yields 5-6 curls depending on how thick or thin I want the resulting curl to be.   Don’t forget to spray  each large section with hairspray to keep the curls intact.   Then, Voila I look like I have a head full of dreadlocks (not that there is anything wrong with that, just not my style).

After curling my whole head with the reverse curling wand…NOT CUTE!!

Wait the magic is coming, I promise!  Let the curls cool for a couple of minutes, then proceed to comb through your hair with your fingers very gingerly or vigorously;  whatever you prefer.  Personally, I like to gently run my fingers through and give a little shake as I go.  To ensure longevity, I turn to my trusty hairspray and crunch sections to crispy perfection!  OH YES!

After a little shake and bake.

Hello Frizz free curls…where have you been all my life?

These curls will last me 2-3 days depending on how I sleep on them.  I typically gather my hair in a bun on top of my head and drift off to Never, Never Land.  “M will you need a touch up the next day?,”  you ask.  If the mood strikes me, I may take out Mr. Bed and go to town; most likely not.

Bedhead Curlipops Conical Iron can be found on and at Ulta.

THE VERDICT:  If makeup could talk what would it say?

It would tell you Mr. Bed is worth every penny and your hard work will pay off for days to come.   I have a head full of curls Bon Jovi would envy.  If rock is not your thing, then take the glove, twirl around like Michael J. and look in the mirror and proclaim without hesitation, “WHO’S BAD”?   Why that would be me, thank you very much.   If you don’t love yourself, who will?  Be well and stay safe!!
